Simple Sales Mail Template

Today I decided that I will start my series of “The Basics posts” wherein I’ll be picking up some basic topics and writing on them. In that note I will be writing about a simple sales template today. This can be used in mail as well as in other messaging services.

So what should be the basic mail template ? Before answering this question let me try to answer another question. What is the purpose of the sales mail ? Lets try and answer this question from the senders perspective as well as the recipient’s perspective.
From the sender’s perspective the purpose of sending a sales mail is

a.) to pitch about a product and

b.) get the sale

From the recipient’s perspective the purpose of the sales mail is to provide a solution to a problem that he has.

So now revisiting the question of the basic mail template, all we need to do is combine the various elements of the purpose of the mail

a.) Solve a problem

b.) Pitch about product

c.) Get the sales

So the technical building blocks of the sales mail template in the right order will be

a.) Salutation

b.) Problem statement

c.) Solution

d.) Pitch product

e.) Call to action

f.) Conclusion/Signing off

Example

If I am writing a mail to pitch about a AI based sales forecast to a packaged food  company the mail will be something like below

Hey <name>,

Hope you are doing good.
One of the major challenges faced is stock freshness and forecasting demands, is critical for this.
I’d urge you to consider automated forecasting systems.
AI based sales forecasting system – Reliable and more efficient than existing systems.
